After work I got to catch a glimpse of the beautiful sunset throwing flaming strokes of orange and red all across the sky. It was nice just to see the sun again! When I got home, the barred owls were raising a ruckus in the backyard. It reminded me that I have not heard the gentle hooting of the great horned owls for a long time.
I did not have enough time to finish the painting, but I will still share this little work-in-progress in memory of the awesome great horned owls in the city and in celebration of the color orange.
The heavens declare the glory of God... Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
